Round One of the 2017 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge delivered an almost perfect start to the season for CJ Wilson Racing. While the top step of the podium proved elusive, filling the other two spots there felt like a win for everyone concerned.
Round one of the 2017 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge is upon us. The opening round, as usual, will take place on the afternoon of Friday, January, 26 and will act as the curtain-raiser to the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

CJ Wilson Racing concluded it's first test of the 2017 season at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, January 8th. It was a busy and highly productive effort with six hour-long sessions over three days.
CJ Wilson Racing today announced a partnership with Houston based Winward Racing whose drivers will join CJWR for all ten rounds of the 2017 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. The ninth round of the 2016 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge was going pretty much according to the script until a rear suspension failure undid all of the outstanding work done by Danny, Burkett, Marc Miller and the whole CJWR crew both under the hauler and in the pits.
With a measured and controlled run to third place at Road Atlanta's series finale, David Hoch, ("LMR Harmonic"), clinched the inaugural CJ Wilson Racing Cayman Cup Presented by Logitech G. His podium finish was his eighth in ten races and it halted a run of three successive race wins for the Chicago based racer. His four total victories was the most by any competitor in the Championship run by The Online Racing Association (TORA) for the Forza Motorsport 6 platform. Hoch wins a full race set up from the Series presenting sponsor, Logitech.

The #33 ONE Capital Management/Motor Oil Matters CJ Wilson Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport broke it's Continental Tire GS Class duck today at Virginia International Raceway. In a masterful performance in changing conditions, Marc Miller lead the final 45 minutes of the race which was severely hampered by an enormous rain storm.

Round 5 of the 2016 Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park saw CJ Wilson find the podium but once again the team from Austin missed out on the elusive top step as the #33 ONE Capital/Motor Oil Matters Porsche finished runner up for the second time in three races.
Marc Miller spent many of his formative years in competing North of the border in Canada. He has raced numerous times at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park or Mosport as it was when he first came here. Ironically, local boy, Danny Burkett, has never driven at the 2.459 mile track so we asked Marc to give us a corner-by-corner tour of this fantastic and historic circuit.
For the second consecutive race, CJ Wilson racing had all four of its drivers on the podium and for the second consecutive race, those drivers were left surrounding the top step. While it would be churlish to bemoan two more Top 3 finishes, it is also fair to suggest that the nature of the 'defeat' at Watkins Glen International was such that the drivers will not forget it any time soon.
Friday morning's 45 minute practice session at Watkins Glen International saw both CJ Wilson Porsches take turns at the top of the time sheets with Tyler McQuarrie ultimately taking the top spot in the #35 New Balance/Safecraft Safety Equipment car ahead of teammate Marc Miller in the #33 ONE Capital/Motor Oil Matters machine.
The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge entrants had one 45 minute session on the brand new surface at Watkins Glen International on Thursday. For almost everyone, it was a chance to get to grips with the new characteristics of the classic Upstate New York track.
