CJ Wilson Racing today announced that Continental Tire Series regular, Justin Piscitell will join the team for Round 7 of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Road America. The 27 year old from Patterson, New York will fill in for Tyler McQuarrie in the #35 Chicago Blackhawks/Safecraft Porsche Cayman as the Californian has a clashing Formula Drift commitment. Piscitell will race alongside regular driver, Till Bechtolsheimer
The CJ Wilson Automotive Group and CJ Wilson Racing today announced a partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks, who will become the primary sponsor of the race team’s #35 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport for the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge event at Road America. The car will compete in the colors of the Chicago Blackhawks Charities.
Round 5 of the 2016 Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park saw CJ Wilson find the podium but once again the team from Austin missed out on the elusive top step as the #33 ONE Capital/Motor Oil Matters Porsche finished runner up for the second time in three races.
Marc Miller spent many of his formative years in competing North of the border in Canada. He has raced numerous times at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park or Mosport as it was when he first came here. For the second consecutive race, CJ Wilson racing had all four of its drivers on the podium and for the second consecutive race, those drivers were left surrounding the top step. While it would be churlish to bemoan two more Top 3 finishes, it is also fair to suggest that the nature of the 'defeat' at Watkins Glen International was such that the drivers will not forget it any time soon.
Friday morning's 45 minute practice session at Watkins Glen International saw both CJ Wilson Porsches take turns at the top of the time sheets with Tyler McQuarrie ultimately taking the top spot in the #35 New Balance/Safecraft Safety Equipment car ahead of teammate Marc Miller in the #33 ONE Capital/Motor Oil Matters machine.
The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge entrants had one 45 minute session on the brand new surface at Watkins Glen International on Thursday. For almost everyone, it was a chance to get to grips with the new characteristics of the classic Upstate New York track.
Round 3 of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was another big step forward for CJ Wilson Racing, the team did everything it could but just came up short of overall victory.
